Chamomile

Matricaria recutita

Earth apple, sweet Daisy. Our dainty little Chamomile; she happily grazes in the meadows, but is a pint-size powerhouse herb that delivers a mighty package of soothing, cleansing, and protection in a crisp sweet taste.

Chamomile is in our teas, tinctures, oils, food, drinks, and all over our flower arrangements. Her aromatic perfume delivers subtle notes of sugar and a crisp autumn apple. She is a dusty rich yellow with small white pedals with rays that match the sunshine.

Chamomile’s medicinal properties fall under the umbrella of calming and cooling. Rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory constituents, Chamomile is used primarily as an internal and external wound healer. Dating back centuries in Egyptian and European medicines, our precious Chamomile was known to be a “cure-all”, particularly in Germany it was referred to as “capable of anything”, which is why it gained popularity as a prime ingredient in wellness teas, topical treatments, and feel-good-foods.

Chamomile is very friendly and safe for children. Internally as a mild relaxing nervine and anti-macrobial, Chamomile helps to fight bacteria during sickness, calm our digestive track, and relieve cramps. Externally, Chamomile acts as a gentle blanket for sore skin from abrasions to chaffing.
